Der Beruf des Fotografen verbindet viele meiner Interessen und Talente miteinander. Innerhalb meiner Fokussierung auf die Corporate Fotografie kann ich sehr abwechslungsreich arbeiten. Ich bin viel unterwegs, sehe interessante Orte und komme mit tollen Menschen zusammen. Es erfüllt mich, meiner Leidenschaft für technische Prozesse nachzugehen und dadurch den Wert der Arbeit in den Bereichen Handwerk, Wissenschaft und Industrie sichtbar zu machen.
EXPOSE | Welche fotografische Ausbildung hast du, und seit wann bist du als Fotograf selbstständig? Wie schnell kamen die ersten Aufträge?
Ich bin über ein Architekturstudium zur Fotografie gekommen. Schon damals beschäftigte ich mich in der 3D-Visualisierung intensiv mit Licht, Raum, Komposition und Ästhetik. Im Anschluss konnte ich als Fotoassistent wichtige Erfahrungen sammeln. Einer der Fotografen, für die ich damals assistiert hatte, gab mir gelegentlich kleinere Fotojobs, bei denen ich sehr viel gelernt habe. Es kamen dann erste Aufträge im Bereich Architektur- und Produktfotografie dazu. Bevor ich jedoch von der Fotografie leben konnte, habe ich für diverse Fotografen die professionelle Bildbearbeitung angeboten. Dort bekam ich einen guten Überblick über die Branche und unterschiedliche Arbeitsweisen. Ja, im Bereich der Corporate Fotografie. Dort begegne ich interessanten Menschen, komme an besondere Orte, lerne neue Technologien kennen und fotografiere faszinierende Bauwerke. Ich genieße es sehr, hinter die Kulissen schauen zu dürfen, viel unterwegs zu sein und kreativ zu arbeiten.
EXPOSE | Manche Aufträge sind emotional oder inhaltlich besonders schön. War da ein Auftrag, der dir besonders in Erinnerung geblieben ist?
Mir bleiben vor allem die Aufträge in Erinnerungen, bei denen ich an sonst unzugänglichen Orten fotografiere oder faszinierende Technologien hautnah erlebe. Besonders berührt mich der Moment, in dem eine emotionale Verbindung mit den Menschen vor Ort entsteht. Wenn es mir dann gelingt, den Wert ihrer Arbeit und ihren Stolz darzustellen, macht mich das glücklich. Ich habe die Auftragsfotografie ganz bewusst gewählt. In erster Linie bin ich Dienstleister und Problemlöser. Zusätzlich lasse ich in die Auftragsarbeit meinen geschulten künstlerischen Blick einfließen. Für mich bietet die Fotografie die Möglichkeit, mich lebendig zu fühlen und mich weiterzuentwickeln.
EXPOSE | Wie wird man als Fotograf erfolgreich, und wie behauptet man sich möglichst lange?
Ich denke, es braucht für nachhaltigen Erfolg eine klare Positionierung, Entschlossenheit, Freude an dem was man tut, strukturiertes Arbeiten, Engagement und natürlich Durchhaltevermögen.
EXPOSE | Was dürfen Kunden von dir erwarten, wenn sie dich buchen? Was zeichnet deine Fotografie aus?
Mein Anspruch ist es, das bestmögliche Ergebnis für meine Kunden zu erzielen. In einem breiten Motivspektrum aus Dokumentation, Porträt und Architektur stelle ich die Zusammenhänge im Unternehmen dar. Meine Bilder sind authentisch und natürlich. Bei Bedarf stehe ich inhaltlich und konzeptionell beratend zu Seite. Als Autodidakt konnte ich am meisten von den Fotografen lernen, für die ich assistiert hatte. Dabei habe ich verschiedene Genres ausprobiert und zahlreiche Einblicke in die Kundenkommunikation, Joborganisation und Preisgestaltung bekommen. Die Fototheorie habe ich mir selbst beigebracht. Das ist heute mit Video Tutorials deutlich einfacher geworden. Neben dem rein kreativen Arbeiten muss ich als Fotograf vor allem auch unternehmerisch denken – das lernt man am besten von erfahrenen Fotografen. Ein Studium kann nützlich sein, um sich zu vernetzen und von der Gruppendynamik zu profitieren.
EXPOSE | Was macht ein Bild für dich zu einem guten Foto?
In meinen Augen ermöglicht ein gutes Bild dem Betrachter, sich in die Situation der Aufnahme hineinzuversetzen und diese weiterzudenken. Ein gutes Bild ist für mich authentisch und vielschichtig – kompositorisch sowie inhaltlich.
